A shining star among executive recruiters
👉 The Scoop – A pleasure to be around with, for sure, but, more than that, ethical, caring, trustworthy. Her shift to personal coaching and move to Austin is a double loss. A loss for the recruitment industry. A loss to Miami. So, join us in celebrating Karla’s new direction.
👉 Decisive Moment #1 – First, while working for the Miami-Dade Economic Development Agency, got a call from a recruitment firm to help them set up the business in Miami. That call got her into a stellar, 25-year career that took her to the big firms and ultimately allowed her to set up her own practice.
👉 Decisive Moment #2 – The second one came during Covid, when she realized that, after 25 years, she really wanted to help people land their ideal jobs.
👉 Unexpected change or event – Technology. Karla’s view on technology is that it helps recruiters expand their footprint to be able to reach just about everyone. LinkedIn was a revolutionary platform that way.
👉 What did she do? – Use that technology to compete effectively against bigger firms and grow her business.
👉 About older workers –
- Obviously, knowledge and experience
- A wealth of past successes and failures to draw from.
- They can hit the ground running.
- They don't need any training; they're ready to go.
- They have an incredible contact network, incredible relationships that they can bring to bear.
- When under pressure, they're calmer, more seasoned. They can handle pressure
-
They can be more reliable, more loyal. They're not going to jump ship. And they're not gunning for your job.
- I think they can bring a lot to the company: multi-generational aspect to your leadership team, different perspectives and kind of bigger picture perspective to the table.
