The Omnichannel Intrapreneur
👉 The Scoop – A serial intrapreneur, Barry has built media companies inside corporations most of his life. Today, he is continuing the transformation of the DPAA Global into a digital international place-based marketing powerhouse.
👉 Decisive Moment #1 – I think many of the kind of inflection points or seminal moments have come from some great leaders that I've worked for and great learning from them. For instance, working closely with Ted Turner, David Stern, Kay Koplovitz
👉 Unexpected change or event – 84% of all the retail shopping in the US is done in brick & mortar stores. One of the biggest changes in these stores is retail media networks. You know, a great opportunity for us and all of my members around the world is that there's about $140 billion in retail media networks today and that is essentially all online. Imagine what the opportunity is when you speak of 84% of all sales.
👉 What did he do? – Led the global expansion of what used to be a sleepy trade organization and made it into a global powerhouse. His advice: go digital and go digital fast. Our members connect with best practices across the world quite easily. They focus on the customer. We are actually a muscular trade organization because I'm not an organization guy as we've talked about. I've always built media companies. We're a consultant, a concierge, a connector, and a community.
👉 About older workers – Years bring wisdom, perspective, a wide view of the world, and these are the real superpowers of people that have been in business and have been in life. And I think those are difficult things to replicate and I would just go back to that wisdom perspective, a wide view, a sense of how to deal with many people.
